The GES Study Leave with Pay for 2022–2023 has been made public by the GES Management.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) wants to make eligible personnel aware of the permitted subject areas for study leave with pay during the academic year 2022–2023.

Requirements for the GES Study Leave with Pay 2022

·         All qualified applicants are required to enroll in courses approved by the director of GES.

·         Must have served for a minimum of three years after graduating from college of education.

·         Applicants currently serving GES in disadvantaged districts or schools are eligible for this application.

·         GES employees above the age of 55 are not eligible for the study leave with pay.

·         Principle Superintendents who attained their positions through a sandwich scheme are ineligible to apply.

Details study Leave with Pay for 2022

The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to make aware of the authorized subject areas for Study Leave with Pay for the 2022 academic year to its eligible staff. Employees of the service must meet the following requirements in accordance with the G.E.S. Study Leave with Pay Policy in order to be granted Study Leave with Pay.

Conditions for the Grant of Study Leave with Pay

Interested applicants should meet the following requirements:

·         First, three (three) years of satisfactory employment are required as a requirement before receiving a Study Leave with Pay award. A Study Leave with Pay recipient must therefore post a bond for the number of years they worked at the Institution plus one (1) year.

·         Second, a candidate (staff member of GES) may be eligible for consideration for the grant of Study Leave with Pay if they have worked for two (2) years in a designated region of deprivation.

·         Additionally, in order to be eligible for any of the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) courses, non-professional graduate instructors must have worked for at least one (1) year.

·         Staff of the Service returning from Secondment must serve a minimum of two (2) years before they become eligible for Study Leave with Pay.

·         Also, before being qualified for Study Leave with Pay, Service employees who resign, leave the company, and are re-engaged must work for at least five (5) years.

·         A staff who does not qualify for the grant of Study Leave with Pay in the first year cannot apply again in the second year of his/her studies. The Staff must apply for Study Leave Without Pay to pursue the course.

·         A staff member must have a minimum of two (2) years left to service after the course to be eligible for study leave with pay. For instance, a staff member who is fifty-five (55) years of age or older cannot request a study leave with pay to complete a four-year or longer course. He/she may, however, submit an application to study courses with a one- to three-year duration.

·         Lastly, a Staff shall be eligible for Study Leave with Pay subject to the following:

1.      Firstly, Good conduct and performance

2.      Second, the immediate supervisor's recommendation

Documents Required 

    1. Fully Filled Application Form
    2. Relevant Certificate(s)
    3. Updated Personal Record Form with a passport picture.
    4. Payslip
    5. SSNIT Card

How to Apply for the 2023 GES Study Leave with Pay

o    Applicants should obtain application forms from the Metro/Municipal/District Education Offices.

o    After that, applicants should complete application forms (4 copies), Attach certified true copies of certificate(s).

o    Applications should be submitted to the applicant’s Regional Director through the Metro/Municipal/District Director/Head of Institution (2nd Cycle).
